Llega el verano, las mochilas se guardan en el armario y los d\u00edas se llenan de piscina, playa y largas tardes al aire libre. Es el descanso que los m\u00e1s peque\u00f1os se han ganado a pulso. Sin embargo, para muchas familias, esta desconexi\u00f3n total viene acompa\u00f1ada de una sombra de preocupaci\u00f3n: el temor al “retroceso” veraniego<\/strong> (el conocido summer slide<\/em><\/strong><\/a>). Es completamente natural que te preguntes si tantos meses alejados de las rutinas de la escuela infantil afectar\u00e1n a su ritmo de aprendizaje y, sobre todo, a la adquisici\u00f3n, fluidez y riqueza de su habla. Instead of asking the typical question of \u201cWhat have you done today?\u201d<\/em> (which they usually answer with a single syllable), use techniques for asking open-ended and follow-up questions. Try saying: \u201cIf you had to choose the time most fun part of today at the beach to tell your grandparents about, which would it be and why exactly?”<\/em>. This forces them to put the events in chronological order, choose precise adjectives and exercise their working memory. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Word games are the perfect introduction to reading and writing. As well as the classic \u2018I spy\u2019<\/em>, try playing \u2018Word chain\u2019<\/em> (create a word using the last syllable of the previous one) or \u201cPhonetic Intruder\u201d<\/em>: say three words that start with the same syllable and one that doesn\u2019t (\u201cduck, ball, pear, house\u201d<\/em>) and challenge your child to spot the intruder. Involve your child by reading the recipe aloud to them and asking them to carry out sequences of two or three steps (\u201cFirst, wash the strawberries; then, put them in the blender; and finally, add the milk\u201d<\/em>). This helps them expand their vocabulary of specific action verbs (whisk, blend, sieve<\/em>) and grasp concepts of quantity and logic. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Don\u2019t just read the text: pause to look at the illustrations, ask them \u201cWhat do you think is going to happen next?\u201d<\/em>, \u201cHow do you think the main character feels?\u201d<\/em> or have a go at making up a completely daft ending. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
