Casvi Villaviciosa > Fine Arts School

Casvi Fine Arts School

Our objective has always been, and will continue to be, to provide our students with a comprehensive and well rounded education. And, within the educational project we offer at Casvi, the subject of Fine Arts holds a similar position to our other core subjects: Mathematics, Languages…

Likewise and with the aim of taking a stride forward in their artistic training and in maximising the skills and abilities worked on in class, our students also have our FINE ARTS SCHOOL available, as an extracurricular activity.

  • The fine arts techniques offered are watercolour, pastel, charcoal, acrylic, oil…
  • The sculptural techniques are clay, modelling clay, papier-mâché, modelling with recycled materials…

We try to detect and foster their artistic talents at all times. This is why we were pioneers in introducing a series of measures aimed at conferring the value these artistic disciplines deserve:

  • The number of class hours was increased.
  • The teachers have degrees in Fine Arts at the top of their classes.
  • In Primary they start to receive the first technical notions so they can progressively learn to express themselves via new techniques and materials (projects with acrylics, watercolours, clays, large poster board and even printing techniques). Final projects are usually exhibited at the school every so often.
  • During Middle School, the fostering of creativity is maximised not only for personal artistic development, but as a foundation to be applied to other subjects (since all have their creative components). The same resources are used and even a few more professional techniques are added, such as oil painting. It also works on different events at the school (theatre, school parties, shows…) with regard to set design and props.
  • And within the Diploma Programme (IB), students who select art and wish to continue with art studies develop a highly personal project they create themselves, which will be entirely done by the student under the supervision of his or her teacher, comprising a specific number of works (painting, sculpture…). Coming into play here are investigation, historical inquiry and an exploration of the techniques and processes to develop the work. The project will be exhibited at the end of the course as defined in the Diploma Programme.
  • We have two specific art classrooms with suitable supplies and materials to be able to fully develop artistically, with our set of photography and illumination.
