Our 6th Primary pupils have held the PEP 2022 Exhibition in the assembly hall of Casvi Villaviciosa. During the previous two years it had to be done online because of the pandemic. This exhibition is the culmination of their Primary stage and at the same time, the first programme of the International Baccalaureate, the PYP. This programme forms students as active participants in a lifelong learning journey. The PYP also offers a transdisciplinary, inquiry-based curriculum framework that builds conceptual understanding.
Our students have carried out this PYP Exhibition in Casvi Villaviciosa developing the attributes of the IB profile and demonstrating all the knowledge and skills acquired from an early age.
But what have they been investigating on this occasion, who have visited the exhibition, what does it consist of, why is the IB methodology so important at Casvi Villaviciosa?
In this video, the students of Eurocolegio Casvi International Private School tell us.
This year, the idea they had to research was “A trip around Europe”. So, collaboratively, in groups, they researched about countries as different as Bulgaria, Italy, Iceland, the United Kingdom, Hungary…
Relatives and classmates from other classes visited this varied exhibition, visiting all the stands prepared by our students. They were able to receive all the information gathered in the projects, based on different lines of enquiry.
All IB programmes include a culminating or consolidating learning experience in their final year: the exhibition in the PYP; the personal project in the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the extended essay in the Diploma Programme (DP). A 4,000-word independent, student-led research paper.
Specifically, the PYP exhibition is a collaborative experience in which pupils at Casvi Villaviciosa are required to research and document a topic that is important or of interest to them, and how it can be useful to the community.
The PYP curriculum framework is premised on students being agents of their own learning. Each student uses their own initiative to learn through enquiry, reflection and conceptual understanding.
At Eurocolegio Casvi International Private School we focus on the integral development of each student. We offer them a transformative experience through which students actively participate in an integrated and continuous assessment.
Through the six transdisciplinary themes of global relevance, pupils strengthen their knowledge and skills in all disciplines.
The PYP exhibition is held every year in every IB school in the world. This year, in the IB community, we are celebrating our students’ learning between 1 May and 15 July 2022. So, through social media, you can follow the exhibition of other schools around the world with the hashtag #PYPX2022.
