The Way of St. James is not only an ancient pilgrimage route. For the 4th grade of Secondary students of the International School Casvi Villaviciosa, it has been a transforming experience that has allowed them to combine sport, culture, spirituality, coexistence and solidarity.
Accompanied by their classmates from the Colegio Concertado Casvi Boadilla, they have walked the last five stages of the French Way, from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela, in an adventure full of learning and emotions.
STAGES FULL OF EFFORT, NATURE AND COMPANIONSHIP
From 22 to 27 June, our students faced a physical and personal challenge. Walking almost 120 kilometres amid hills, heat and fatigue. But also with laughter, incredible landscapes, shared stories and moments of self-improvement. Among the most significant stops of this edition, the following stand out:
- Sarria, traditional starting point to obtain the Compostela.
- Portomarín, with its bridge and its submerged history.
- Palas de Rei and Melide, where the pilgrim atmosphere intensifies.
- Arzúa and Pedrouzo, as a prelude to the final excitement:
- Santiago de Compostela, a desired goal that is proudly achieved.
Each stage was accompanied by stops to regroup, eat and, above all, share. Because beyond the physical challenge, the Camino has taught them to take care of each other, to be patient, to enjoy the moment and to value the small details.

AN EDUCATIONAL AND HUMAN EXPERIENCE
The Way of St. James is part of the school’s educational programme because of its great pedagogical and vital value. It is an extension of the classroom, where pupils learn outside of books:
- To identify and understand historical, geographical, cultural and religious elements of our heritage.
- To take a close look at the survival of symbols and monuments that have marked the history of Europe.
- To live together with people of different nationalities, cultures and ages who share the same path.
- To develop values such as solidarity, effort, self-improvement, respect and empathy.

As they themselves have experienced, the Way is a real school of life, where each step teaches something new.
THE WAY OF ST JAMES, MUCH MORE THAN A SCHOOL TRIP
At Casvi Villaviciosa we are committed to an education that goes beyond the classroom. One that touches the hearts and minds of our students. The Way of St James is one of those experiences that leave a mark. That are fondly remembered for a lifetime.
A tradition that every year renews our commitment to integral education, human values and experiential learning.
