At the Eurocolegio Casvi International Private School in Villaviciosa de Odón, we believe in a holistic education that goes beyond the classroom. Co-curricular and extracurricular activities are a key tool for fostering not only academic development, but also the emotional, physical and social growth of our pupils.
NEW EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES PROGRAMME AT CASVI VILLAVICIOSA FOR THE 2026–27 ACADEMIC YEAR
The new programme for the 2026–27 academic year is now available. It offers a wide and varied range of activities, designed to suit the different ages, interests and talents of our pupils.
This coming academic year will also bring some new features. The athletics after-school club will be accompanied by psychomotor activities. Meanwhile, two new sports are on offer: Skating and, the lesser-known, Pickeball. It is a racket sport that combines elements of tennis, padel, badminton and table tennis. It is played on a small court and is very dynamic and easy to learn.
WHAT CHALLENGES DO FAMILIES FACE?
At present, many families face significant challenges significant challenges in the education and support on a daily basis of their children:
- The difficulty of spending quality time together due to the fast pace of working life.
- The increase in the amount of time spent in front of screens, which on occasions limits social interaction and play in person.
- Academic pressure, which can lead to stress or emotional strain.
In this context, co-curricular and extracurricular activities provide valuable support. This is because they help to foster organisation, boost motivation and provide opportunities for socialising, learning and personal development.
BENEFITS BACKED BY EXPERTS AND DATA
Institutional sources
According to the Instituto Nacional de Empresa (INE), more than 30 % of school-age children do not engage in regular physical activity, which increases the risks of obesity and emotional disorders.
Experts
Ana López, child psychologist, points out: "Complementary and extracurricular activities allow children to develop skills that are not always cultivated in the classroom, such as empathy, emotional management or resilience".
Specialized literature
Pedagogue Juan Martínez, author of The Complete Child, stresses that "these activities stimulate creativity, responsibility and discipline, which are key to personal and academic success".
HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT ACTIVITIES?
Before choosing an activity, it is important to consider various aspects:
- What sparks each child’s interest and motivation. Listening to their preferences, concerns and the things they enjoy will help you to make a decision that is more suitable for their personality and needs.
- It is also a good idea to strike a balance in their routine, avoiding overly busy schedules. Combining sporting, artistic or technological activities can promote a more well-rounded and enriching development.
- Having the guidance of teachers, tutors or coordinators of activities can provide a perspective that is very useful regarding which options can benefit the most each student.
- Finally, it is advisable to carefully review the available options to ensure that the activities fit in with both your schedule and your educational and family goals.
“My daughter started at the Casvi Music School and her self-esteem and concentration have improved remarkably,” says L.G., mother of a primary school pupil.
FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PARENTS
It is important to check regularly whether the activity continues to spark enthusiasm and motivation in the children, as enjoying what they do is key to ensuring the experience is truly positive.
As they grow up, it is a good idea to give them greater freedom to make their own decisions so that they can choose the activities they feel most connected to and committed to.
Furthermore, it is not about filling every day with tasks, but rather about prioritising activities that add value and promote well-being. In many cases, a balanced routine with fewer activities is better for their emotional and personal development.
Extracurricular and after-school activities are a valuable investment in your children’s all-round development. At Casvi Villaviciosa, we work hard every day to provide enriching experiences that make a difference to their present and their future.
