At Casvi Villaviciosa International School, we believe that education should go beyond the classroom and foster fundamental values such as empathy, social responsibility and solidarity. We are therefore proud to share the great success of the charity run against childhood leukaemia that we recently held at our school.
The day turned into a thrilling wave of hope, demonstrating the genuine commitment of our entire educational community to a vital cause.
LEADERSHIP AND COMMITMENT: AN ICON INITIATIVE – THE PD’S CAS SEAL
The organisation of this event was a shining example of how our students put theory into practice. The initiative arose from the hard work, planning and enthusiasm of a group of students in Year 1 of the Diploma Programme, as part of their CAS (Creativity, Activity and Service) programme of the International Baccalaureate.
The authority and success of the project lay with the student organisers themselves. They all took on the challenge of managing the logistics, coordinating the routes and establishing the necessary partnerships with great maturity. Through this activity, they demonstrated their expertise in organising events with a real and direct social impact.
STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH "UNOENTRECIENMIL"
To ensure the utmost reliability and transparency in the management of the funds, the race was organised in close collaboration with the prestigious association Unoentrecienmil. This foundation is a leading organisation in Spain in the fight against childhood leukaemia, channelling all its proceeds into research into this disease, which is the most common form of cancer in children.
By joining forces with Unoentrecienmil, we assure all families that the efforts made and the funds raised will be put to a clear, specific and audited use: to fund scientific projects seeking a cure.
MORE THAN JUST SPORT: RAISING AWARENESS AND FUNDS FOR RESEARCH
The charity run for children with leukaemia had two key objectives that offer great value for the reader and for the entire Casvi community:
- Raising awareness: The event served to raise awareness among all our pupils about leukaemia, from the youngest children in Early Years Education, through to Primary School, Secondary School and Baccalaureate. It was a unique educational opportunity to foster empathy and solidarity from an early age.
- Fundraising for funds: Thanks to the involvement of everyone, we managed to contribute our grain of sand by raising funds which have been allocated entirely to research for research and to the improvement of the treatments for the children who suffer from this disease. Every euro raised is one step closer to a cure.
“Solidarity is not an act of charity, but mutual aid a9> between forces that are fighting for the same goal”.
A DAY OF PARTICIPATION AND GENEROSITY IN THE COMMUNITY
The race was held with great enthusiasm in the school playground, with adapted routes to ensure that pupils from all year groups could take part comfortably and safely.
We would like to highlight the generosity of the students who, as well as taking part in the run, made voluntary donations to the charity collection box set up for the occasion. We would also like to express our deepest gratitude for the commitment of the whole educational community: the students organisers for their leadership, the participants for their energy and the teachers and families for their support unconditional.
