The lights in the auditorium at Casvi Villaviciosa came on, transporting us straight back to our childhood, to nostalgia and, above all, to talent with a capital T. The Casvi Theatre Groups premiered their eagerly awaited and latest production, ‘Toy Story: The New Generation’, managing to sell out the venue and bringing the audience to their feet in a thunderous ovation.
Months of rehearsals, learning lines by heart and preparing choreography paid off on stage. Our young actors not only recreated the magic of the most famous toys in cinema history; they also brought a freshness, charisma and overwhelming energy to the performance that swept up all the families, classmates and teachers in attendance.

Seeing the final result of the production is a source of pride for the whole educational community, but the true value of this project lies in everything that happens behind the scenes. At Casvi Villaviciosa, theatre is seen as a cross-curricular teaching tool of inestimable value for the pupils’ all-round development.
Staging a production such as ‘Toy Story’ brings key benefits to our students:
- Developing communication skills: Taking to the stage helps pupils overcome stage fright, project their voices and master body language – key skills for their academic and professional futures.
- Emotional intelligence and empathy: By putting themselves in the shoes of such diverse characters (from Woody’s loyalty to Buzz Lightyear’s determination), children learn to recognise, understand and channel different emotions.
- Teamwork and responsibility: A play is a finely tuned machine where success depends on everyone. Pupils learn the value of mutual commitment, respect for their classmates’ work and problem-solving in real time.
- Self-esteem and confidence: Overcoming the challenge of performing in front of hundreds of people directly boosts self-confidence, showing them that with perseverance and hard work, no goal is out of reach.
