Students in Year 13 and the Diploma Programme (IB) at Casvi Villaviciosa are enjoying an educational experience of great educational value thanks to their academic trip to Geneva (Switzerland). This stay is allowing them to gain first-hand experience of some of the leading scientific and institutional figures on an international level. This is the case with their visit to CERN (European Organisation for Nuclear Research), one of the most important scientific research centres in the world.
CERN and the Large Hadron Collider: Science in Action
During their visit, students will learn about the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the largest and most complex particle accelerator on the planet. Through explanations adapted to their academic level, they will be able to understand how scientists investigate the origin of the universe, the structure of matter and the fundamental laws of physics.
In addition, they will visit the CERN Interactive Museum, where they will participate in hands-on activities that will facilitate their understanding of complex concepts related to subatomic particles, energy and fundamental forces. All this will be done by applying the scientific method in a dynamic and participatory way.
TRANSFORMATIVE LEARNING IN AN INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENT
The trip programme will be rounded off with cultural and educational visits in the city of Geneva. These include the Botanical Gardens, where students will be able to explore biodiversity and reflect on environmental sustainability. Also, the United Nations headquarters, an experience that will allow them to understand the importance of international cooperation in addressing major global challenges.
These activities reinforce a vision of learning connected to the real world, in which science, society and values are intertwined.
EDUCATION INTERNATIONAL ALIGNED WITH THE PROGRAMME DIPLOMA OF THE IB
The visit to CERN and to leading international institutions represents a lasting impact on academic training. a10> lasting impact on the academic and personal development of the students. An experience that awakens scientific vocations, reinforces critical thinking and consolidates learning. and consolidates learning beyond the classroom.
At Casvi Villaviciosa, we continue to be committed to international education, which connects knowledge with the real world and prepares students to successfully face the challenges of the 21st century.
AN EXPERIENCE THAT LEAVES ITS MARK
These types of experiences are part of the educational project at Casvi Villaviciosa, aligned with the principles of the Diploma Programme (International Baccalaureate). Curiosity, inquiry, open-mindedness and action are fundamental pillars of this educational model, which seeks to develop critical, committed and globally aware students.
Upon their return, the students not only bring back unforgettable memories with them. To this is added a new perspective on the role of science and knowledge in the construction of the future that is more sustainable and collaborative.
