Solidarity is not just a value that is conveyed through words. It is an attitude that is learned through real experiences. At Casvi Villaviciosa, teaching solidarity is an essential part of our educational project and is actively promoted in the classroom, involving students, teachers and families.
This approach is reflected in the video accompanying this news item. It shows how solidarity becomes an experience that leaves a lasting impression on our students.
EDUCATING IN SOLIDARITY: A VALUE THAT IS BUILT THROUGH ACTION
Solidarity is a fundamental social and emotional skill for the comprehensive development of students. At Casvi Villaviciosa, we understand it as the ability to put oneself in another’s shoes, act with empathy, and engage with one’s environment.
Therefore, we promote initiatives of solidarity that allow the pupils:
- Understanding realities different from your own.
- Actively participate in relief efforts.
- Reflect on the impact of your decisions.
- Develop values such as responsibility, respect, and cooperation.
These experiences are aligned with the principles of the International Baccalaureate, which promotes an open, critical and socially engaged mindset.
In this way, at Casvi Villaviciosa, solidarity is working in a progressive and coherent manner at every stage of education:
IN THE PYP PROGRAMME
MYP PROGRAMME
In the MYP Programme (Secondary), it encourages critical thinking about the problems of the local and global environment, promoting active participation and commitment to actions of solidarity in the real world.
DIPLOMA PROGRAMME
In the DP (Baccalaureate), solidarity becomes conscious action linked linked to critical thinking, service to the community and social responsibility, preparing students to become committed global citizens.
This approach allows solidarity to be not just a one-off action, but a skill that is developed and consolidated over time. This is the case of the Solidarity Race against Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and Leukaemia organised by our PD students, as seen in the photo.
LEARN TO BE SOLIDARITY
As and such as shown in the video, the charity activities solidarity at Casvi Villaviciosa are not isolated actions. They form part of a continuous educational process that helps students understand that solidarity implies getting involved, take action and reflect.
Through these experiences, pupils discover that helping others is also beneficial for themselves. And not only that, but also to strengthen their self-esteem and to understand the value of working for the common good.
THE CASVI FOUNDATION: TRANSFORMING VALUES INTO REAL ACTIONS
The Casvi Foundation is the hub that channels and gives meaning to this commitment to solidarity. Through its social projects, the Foundation enables the values taught in the classroom to be translated into concrete actions of support, cooperation and assistance to vulnerable communities, both locally and internationally. This is the case with the work of the Casvi Foundation in Piura. We tell you all about it in this video.
Thanks to the involvement of students, families and educators, the Casvi Foundation reinforces experiential learning. In this way, it is demonstrated that solidarity has a real impact and that every action, however small it may seem, can generate a significant change.
“Many people in small places, in small places small places, doing small things, can change the world.”
