A pupil from Casvi Villaviciosa has reached the final of the ‘Microrrelatos en el aula’ school reading and writing competition.

She’s done it! Here at Casvi Villaviciosa, we couldn’t be prouder of our Year 4 Secondary pupil, Irene Pereira, who has been named a finalist in this year’s edition of the prestigious School Reading and Writing Competition ‘Microrrelatos en el aula’. The competition is organised by the Publishers’ Association, Cerro and the Community of Madrid.

This milestone is truly historic, given that Irene has managed to emerge as a finalist by competing against a fierce field of competition: a total of 115 schools, 161 teachers and more than 820 pupils taking part!! Irene is a loyal participant in this competition ever since she started secondary school, demonstrating year after year his passion for literature. This academic year, her perseverance, talent and creativity have earned their well-deserved recognition, standing out among hundreds of young writers from all over the Community of Madrid.

AN DAY TO REMEMBER AT THE READER’S HOME

Irene, accompanied by her teachers, enjoyed a magical and unforgettable day at the Casa del Lector (Matadero Madrid), surrounded by literature, talent and wonderful experiences. The event programme was designed to make the finalists feel like real professional writers:

  • Creative writing workshop: As soon as she arrived, Irene took part in a workshop exclusively for Year 4 Secondary and Sixth Form students, where she was able to share the space and exchange ideas with other talented young people from the finalist schools.
  • Meet the author Catalina González Vilar: A unique opportunity to chat with one of the leading figures in children’s and young adult literature (LIJ).
  • The grand finale: The most exciting moment of the day. Irene was able to see her story in print in a book and sign copies for those present, just like an established author. She also had the honour of reading her micro-story to the entire audience gathered in the auditorium.

“Seeing your own story published and being able to read it out to a packed audience is an experience our student will never forget. It has been the crowning glory of years of dedication to writing.”
