Sports school in Spain

"Mens sana in corpore sana", would be our maxim regarding the conception of sports at Casvi Villaviciosa School. In order to achieve this, sport is promoted in our school. It takes place both in and out of school hours.

In Casvi, we have increased the number of hours in which Physical Education is taught to three in ESO. In addition to these sessions, there are two more swimming sessions during school hours, both in Kindergarten and Primary Education. In Secondary and Baccalaureate the participation of our students is voluntary.

Within sports school in Spain, we also encourage the practice and knowledge of different sports. From the most traditional to the most innovative and from different parts of the world. Clear examples of this are disciplines such as these which are worked on daily with our pupils: lacrosse, ultimate, kin-ball, korfball, ripela, Gaelic football, colbol… The latest to be introduced is Tamburello.

It was the first of the sports at Casvi School. It was the first sporting discipline that began to be practiced in the International Private School Eurocolegio Casvi from the very moment of its foundation in 1985. As a historical milestone, it is worth mentioning the promotion of our senior team to the EBA League on May 25, 2008. Category in which it remained for 10 consecutive seasons. Now it plays in 1st Autonomic League.

In the Casvi Basketball School everyone dreams of moving up to the first team and emulate those who, from our youth team, have managed to play in the ACB League. In the case of Andrés Miso, Tyson or Juan José García.

Hence the importance of our Basketball School, which brings together different federated and non-federated teams. In competition we have the fry and infantile mixed, cadet, junior and 1st Autonomous teams.

Within the sports at Casvi School, Swimming is included as another activity within the school day. In fact, we were pioneers with the inclusion of the practice of this sport in school hours from the first cycle of Kindergarten.

It is also promoted as an extracurricular activity thanks to the School of Initiation to Competition, made up of students from 6 to 14 years of age.

Thanks to it they are offered the possibility of living their first experiences in the competitive world.

Swimming helps our students to develop physically in a different environment using all the muscles of their body. This makes it one of the most complete sports.

It is made up of students from 3rd and 4th ESO (federated Cadet). In it, our players train all the variables involved in football that have to do with technical, tactical and game comprehension skills, as well as physical and psychological skills.

More sports at Casvi School. Another example is our 7-a-side Football School. It is divided into two levels.

The Messi level (5th and 6th – Alevín Mixed). Through its practice we seek our students to acquire a series of values: respect for the referee, the coach and the teammate, tolerance, teamwork… We work on both individual and collective technique. Also tactics and above all the rules.

On the other hand, in “Casillas” level (1st and 2nd Secondary School – Mixed Infants) we use a comprehensive work method that aims to maximize the sporting performance of our players.

Ricardinho Level (3rd and 4th E. Primary). At this stage, we get a further step taking in the learning of technique and tactics with special emphasis on positioning on the field. They also begin to compete in order to promote values such as teamwork.

Within the Sports at Casvi School, another discipline on the rise is yoga. This activity is aimed at 2nd and 3rd students in Kindergarten. It is highly recommended for them as it brings them multiple benefits. It helps them improve their flexibility, balance and coordination, as well as reduce the stress and anxiety they may feel at school or at home. In addition all classes will work through music, games, stories, dance, drawing and plastic expression.

The objective of this activity, aimed at primary school students, is to learn and develop basic motor skills. Also to stimulate physical self-knowledge and personal self-confidence in environments related to sports physical activity. And finally to initiate schoolchildren in the practice of physical activity from an early age, promoting the values of school sports.
