EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

Because of the need to sustain a solid project of school technology in Villaviciosa as of SECONDARYthe technological career of our students begins in 1st kindergarten education, where they are introduced to the use of tablets, and learn how to navigate the operating system and tools such as YouTube through the use of educational apps.

For ages 4 and up, the focus for the TPR (Technology Programming and Robotics) area is on developing cooperative play, creative thinking, attention span and concentration, curiosity, confidence, spatial and temporal orientation, and language and communication skills. All this in a transdisciplinary way using tools such as Jack “The Robot”, constructions with Lego Duplo, Cubetto and the use of our iPad to program with Scratch Junior.

PRIMARY

During the first years of primary school, we create mental structures that enable our students to follow simple processes and perform simple programming with Scratch.

For students in 1st and 2nd Primary Jack “The Robot” will help them to structure their reasoning to program simple instructions. For grades 4-6, Lego construction and robotics kits and Makey Makey smart cards develop the concept of robotics through play in a deeper way. In the last years of primary school, thanks to technology in the school, scratch programming is deepened and strengthened.

SECONDARY

In Secondary Education, the programming base learnt with Scratch is now applied in another type of block programming, bitbloq. From 1st to 3rd Secondary School, they carry out projects based on programming Arduino boards for the control of robots created by designing 3D objects.

For the development of the robotic skeletons, we use 3D widget cameras for iPad and printing we do with Pruxa and Witbox 2 printers. At this stage, therefore, technology in the school results in comprehensive projects in which the student performs the full cycle of software development, analysis, design, development and testing. Finally, in 4th Secondary School, structured languages are incorporated into the knowledge bases created.

BACCALAUREATE

In 1st and 2nd Baccalaureate, ICT will turn our students into expert web application developers.
