Curiosity, research and hands-on learning were the key elements of an enriching activity organised by the pupils of the Talent Classroom in Primary Education at the Casvi Villaviciosa International School.
LEARNING SCIENCE THROUGH EXPERIMENTATION, RESEARCH AND SHARING KNOWLEDGE
On this occasion, the students have become true science communicators by presenting various experiments to their fellow pupils. They have done so by explaining, in a clear and engaging manner, the reasons behind each reaction and the results observed. This initiative has not only brought science closer to other pupils. They have also developed communication skills, critical thinking and collaborative working skills.
Through fascinating demonstrations and explanations tailored to each age group, the participants sparked the curiosity and interest of their classmates, who were able to see for themselves how science is present in many aspects of everyday life.
AN ACTIVITY IN LINE WITH THE IB METHODOLOGY
This educational experience fully reflects the philosophy of the International Baccalaureate (IB), methodology practised at Casvi Villaviciosa, where learning is built on inquiry, experimentation and the active participation of the student.
Through this type of project, students develop key competencies outlined in the IB learner profile. These include being inquirers, effective communicators and critical thinkers. Furthermore, they learn to formulate questions, seek explanations based on observation, and share their knowledge with others in a rigorous and creative manner.
The activity also promotes one of the key pillars of IB learning: learning by teaching. By having to explain each experiment scientifically, students consolidate their own knowledge and develop a deeper understanding of the concepts covered.
THE TALENT CLASSROOM: NURTURING EACH PUPIL’S POTENTIAL
The Talent Classroom at Casvi Villaviciosa aims to provide students with enriching learning experiences that foster their abilities, creativity and intellectual curiosity.
Through practical activities, interdisciplinary projects and innovative proposals, students can explore areas of interest such as science, technology, communication or research, always based on an active and participatory methodology.
At this scientific conference, as well as sharing their knowledge, the students demonstrated enthusiasm, initiative and a remarkable ability to explain complex ideas in an accessible and understandable way.
SCIENCE TO INSPIRE VOCATIONS AND FOSTER CURIOSITY
Through initiatives such as this, Casvi Villaviciosa remains committed to an education based on hands-on learning and meaningful learning, where pupils take the lead in their own educational journey.
Introducing children to science from an early age not only helps them to better understand scientific concepts, but also helps to inspire future careers, foster creativity and develop an inquisitive attitude towards the world around us.
An educational experience that has undoubtedly enabled us to learn, be amazed and enjoy science first-hand.
