At Casvi Villaviciosa International School, we firmly believe in the importance of learning through experience. That is why the celebration of Easter at Casvi Villaviciosa (Easter) becomes an exceptional educational opportunity every year for our Early Years Education pupils. This week has been packed with activities combining fun, creativity and, above all, immersion in the English language and culture.
We are committed to providing high-quality, transparent and valuable education for families. Below, we explain how we have approached this and why we believe it is essential to keep these traditions alive in the classroom.
AN 'EGG-CELENT' PROGRAMME OF ACTIVITIES FOR LEARNING THROUGH PLAY
The Languages department and the team of nursery tutors have designed a comprehensive programme in which English serves as the central theme. The aim is for the children to absorb vocabulary and grammatical structures naturally and spontaneously, moving away from traditional rote learning.
ARTES ESCÉNICAS: "THE ADVENTURE OF EASTER BUNNY"
The week began with a big surprise. One of the groups from theatre at Casvi performed an original play centred on the adventures of the famous Easter Bunny of Easter. The pupils enjoyed an authentic cultural experience, fostering listening comprehension in English through the the narrative and the expression of the body of the actors.
CREATIVITY AND MOTOR SKILLS
In addition, the teachers organised craft workshops (crafts). Using a variety of materials, the children created their own decorated eggs and Easter baskets. In doing so, they developed their fine motor skills whilst learning about colours, shapes and textures in English.
LANGUAGE IMMERSION: "EASTER GAMES AND SONG"
Learning a language requires constant practice. Through traditional Easter songs and active games (such as the classic ‘Easter Egg Hunt’), children practise language structures in a real-life and engaging context. Play is the most powerful learning tool at this age, and at Casvi we make the most of it.
THE GOLDEN EASTER: THE VISIT OF THE EASTER BUNNY
The excitement reached its peak with a personal visit from the Easter Bunny. The Easter Bunny visited every class in Early Years Education, handing out chocolate eggs. The children’s surprised faces and smiles were the best indication of the day’s success. This activity is not only fun, but also creates positive memories associated with the school environment and learning English.
WHY DO WE CELEBRATE EASTER AT CASVI VILLAVICIOSA?
Beyond the fun, celebrating international traditions such as Easter at Casvi Villaviciosa brings significant benefits for pupils’ all-round development:
- Cultural immersion and an international outlook: As an IB World School, we encourage an understanding of other cultures. Learning about Anglo-Saxon traditions helps pupils develop an open and respectful attitude towards diversity.
- Meaningful English learning: By linking the language to positive emotional experiences (drama, games, chocolate), learning becomes deeper and more lasting. English ceases to be a ‘subject’ and becomes a real tool for communication.
- Emotional and social development: Taking part in group activities, sharing in the excitement and enjoying fun moments boosts children’s self-esteem and improves their social and interpersonal skills.
- Stimulating Creativity: Arts and crafts and face painting allow children to explore their expressive and imaginative abilities in both free and guided ways.
In short, the Easter week at Casvi Villaviciosa is a clear example of our educational philosophy: learning by doing, with academic rigour, language immersion and, above all, plenty of fun.
